Few Strong Storms Possible SundayThe Storms Prediction Center has eastern Colorado and southeast Wyoming along and east of Interstate 25 outlooked for a slight risk of a few severe thunderstorms Sunday.The main threat would be strong damaging winds and hail. This time of year we look at surface dew point temperatures to see where the best fuel for thunderstorms to feed on is located. Dew point temperatures are a measure of the amount of moisture in the air. The higher the dew point, the more humid the atmosphere. From Denver east to Kansas dew point temperatures were in the mid-40s to mid 50s as of 9 a.m. and if those hold into the afternoon, there will be enough moisture for storms to generate once combined with daytime heating. Saturday brought some severe stroms to extreme east-central Colorado and a few tornadoes in western Nebraska. Sunrise members go above and beyondSunrise Rotarian Dr Bert Thacker receives the Paul Harris award from President Stuart Diamond. Dr Thacker led a Dental team to Peru to give free treatment to adults and children.Russell Smith, Co-Director for Fund Raising for Rotary Sunrise receives a Paul Harris award from President Stuart Diamond for exceeding the fund raising target for the current year and permitting a very substantial cheque to be sent to The Cayman Islands Cancer Society. Rotary Sunrise's 67 members all contribute both hands-on and financially to others in the community who are less fortunate. Sometimes there is an exceptional effort and this can be marked by the grant of a Paul Harris award. These awards are extremely prestigious and two were awarded this week at the club's regular breakfast meeting at the Grand Old House. 30 graduate from DARELast week, 30 children in Cayman Brac received certificates and prizes for completing the DARE programme delivered by the RCIPS.All students from Spot Bay Junior School and West End Primary School who completed the 10–week anti–drugs and violence programme were recognized for their dedication and achievement. Seven Mile Beach Community Police Officer Jon Siddall flew to the Brac once a week to carry out the programme with the assistance of Cayman Brac Community Police Officer Rob Stewart. The DARE programme teaches children, ages 10–11, about the dangers of drugs, alcohol, tobacco and violence, said an RCIP press release. The aim to is to provide students with the skills needed to avoid and deal with situations involving any of these.
